Design & Simulation of District Heating System (from A25)
Code
SE-DSD1
Version
2.1
Offered by
Supply Engineering
ECTS
5
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of thermodynamics is prerequisite.
Main purpose
The student will obtain knowledge of energy storage systems and heat recovery for district heating and be able to use software for analysis/simulations of thermal energy systems.
Knowledge
The students will be able to:
- Know the design and structure for energy storage and heat recovery for district heating and carry out energy balance for the systems.
- Calculate main dimensions, capacities and efficiency for storage and recovery of thermal energy.
- Carry out computer simulations for changes in different energy systems like storage charging and discharging, mixing of flows, changing of thermodynamic cycle and optimize energy streams.
Skills
The students will be able to analyse the correlation between energy consumption, storage and production and to evaluate storage and heat recovery solutions, calculate storage capacities and carry out software simulations for energy systems.
Competences
The course will give the students competences in technical and economical planning and designing district heating systems with short term and seasonal storage and heat recovery system including heat pumps. Furthermore, the students will be able to communicate and collaborate with energy engineers about storage and recovery in energy systems.
Topics
Teaching methods and study activities
There will be 12 weeks with lectures, which consists of 3-4 lessons a week. The lessons will be part theory and cases as well as tutorials. Some lectures will be reserved for students work on assignments and miniproject. Assignments will be solved individuallyand presented in front of the rest of the class. Miniproject will be solved in groups or individually.
