Bachelor Project (CE-)

Code

CE-BPR2

Version

3.0

Offered by

Civil Engineering

ECTS

15

Prerequisites

BPR1 must be completed before starting BPR2.

Main purpose

The project must be based on a building or construction engineering problem, with a project description created in the BPR1 course.

The purpose of the technical professional part of the bachelor's project is to give the students practical experience in solving complex, real-world problems related to construction and civil works, which reflect the types of challenges they may face in their professional careers.

The BPR2 project gives the students the opportunity to explore a wide range of academic subjects with the possibility of collaboration with external partners. The project gives the student the opportunity to work with design, planning, development and documentation based on the problem identified through the BPR1 project.

The purpose of the PBL part of the course is for the students to apply their personal and project competencies from the previous semester projects in a practice-oriented and complex bachelor project.

Knowledge

After completing the project work, the student must be able to:
- Conclude and reflect on relevant tools, methods and results in connection with the solution of the problem.
- Develop an understanding of personal learning needs and choose appropriate strategies to structure self-directed learning in an interdisciplinary context.
- Explain theories and methods used in the project.
- Critically acquire new knowledge.

Skills

After completing the project work, the student must be able to:
- Independently assess theoretical and practical issues within the construction sector and justify the choice of chosen solution models based on their relevance, responsibility, durability and applicability with a focus on modern technologies and best practice.
- Assess new knowledge independently and argue for its strategic use in project work, demonstrate the ability to effectively incorporate innovative ideas into practical solutions.
- Search for and select the best suited theories and methods for the project.
- Apply selected theories and methods to the project.
- Participate in and take responsibility for professional collaboration.
- Communicate both orally and in writing the results of the project as well as the process.

Competences

After completing the project work, the student must be able to:
- Analyze a building or construction engineering problem, collects data, selects and applies relevant methods, concludes and puts results into perspective.
- Plan and structure a complex project.
- Perform a practice-oriented project in accordance with a plan.
- Reflect on the results of the project in a professional, holistic and ethical perspective.
